What a BELIT TEST is all about.....!!!!!!!

Its only slightly more than three weeks remaining when Deloitte would be conducting their hiring process for the campus aspirants and the process, which seems to be an arduous one, is an arduous one in a sense that it tests you a lot on communication parameters. The tweak, however, this year is students clearing first three levels will have no time to prepare for the interview as they are scheduled the very next day.

Coming to the point, BELIT Test is a 30 min test to check your listening and comprehension skills. The level of the test is not very high and a bit concentration and careful listening will do the trick for a candidate with average listening skills.

I can not recollect everything about the test but I can share few points as to how test would be and what type of questions it will have.

TYPE 1: Listening to a conversation of 5 or more seconds. Memorizing the narratives, listening the question and the options and marking the right answer. Don't ever try to note down the details as the conversation or the options (either of both, can't recollect) can be heard twice. Pay attention to the details. Conversation would be very straight-forward and will not pose great challenge in terms of understanding the details.

But, listen to the options carefully and mark your answer with full surety as an answer once marked can't be reached again. Simple tip: Carry good earphones, don't peer into what the person sitting next to you is doing and listen attentively. Its all about doing the basics right.

TYPE 2: Audio/ visual comprehension. In this type of questions, you would be shown a picture and the questions would be based on that picture. Again, the options will be recited and correct option needs to be selected after listening to each one of them. A sample example can be:



Here, the question can be: " What is the man in the picture doing?"

The answer is easy but options would be narrated. So, pay attention.

TYPE 3: Simple Comprehension. This is just like a normal reading comprehension. A passage would be given to you with few questions in it. Straight forward questions and in between the passage, the lines would be marked with yellow for which you will have questions relating to its meaning. This section will have questions on comprehension and vocabulary. Read as much as you can, practice a bit and it would be an easy bet.

TIPS:

1. What if you don't have good vocabulary? No problem. It would be easily manageable. Be average on it and you can be through.
2. Stay aloof from others till the time you are taking the test. No matter how good friends you are, stay focused.
3. Carry a good set of earphones.
4. The accent of the speaker would be very simple. Just pay attention.
5. Don't even attempt to jot down the points. The test would pass like a blink of your eye.
6. Listen to audios of personalities to get a touch of the alien accent.
7. In visuals, pay attention to every details. The questions might be on a minute activity in the picture.
8. Don't panic if something goes wrong. Everything happens for a good reason.
9. They usually give people a second chance who are nearby the cutoff score. Don't wait for the second chance as first attempt is the best attempt.
10. Last but not the least, they would be there to select you and not reject you. I hope it sums up the story.

“Last night I wanted to sleep but it was evading me……..and today I am evading it but the tiredness is letting me break down…….”

And yet, when those words just hit the corners of my ears, neither I was feeling out of the blue not tears were dropping from my eyes, but it was just a satisfactory gesture that was evident in me…….that I got what I deserve…………….

And the feelings become over joyous when people start pouring wishes to you saying “You deserved it……..”

To sum up the whole experience, from my point of view, communication skills play a vital role in someone’s selection…….and if you don’t believe it……the best example is the writer of this blog…….

I screwed up the whole technical round, which I am not ashamed off because of the kind of pressure the situation had, it becomes confusing for everybody to answer some basic questions………and believe me…….

If life runs on basics………an interview also proceeds on basics……….but the presentation matters which is a result of good communication skills………

Nothing out of the blue in the interview……..very basic questions……but they expect the potential candidate to be passionate, energetic, vibrant, pleasant in personality, open to learning, patient and  enthusiastic so that he/she can match up with what they want…….

Keeping everything simple…….one simple advise which I give to everybody…….

“You will be selected on the basis of how you perform……and will be rejected also on the basis of how you perform…….”

Because……………they come to hire you………not to reject you…….!!!!!!!
