The Deloitte Way.....!!!!!!!!

(I am sharing the pre-hiring experience of Deloitte in which 14 students from our college including me are selected for the final interview which is scheduled later on………I will not get into nitty-gritty of the timings and everything…..to keep it short I will just narrate the process and how was the level as per my point of view…………)

The mornings were not usual today, because adrenaline was a bit on a faster side as the first company for the recruitment was coming. So, finally and inevitably, Deloitte today visited the campus for its pre-hiring process and everyone was very excited and proportionately nervous too because of the stringent process they had announced………so let’s see how it went out actually…….

The first test was BELIT test which was undecipherable by its name but originally it was listening and Reading Comprehension test which comprises of 16 questions each to be completed in 15 minutes apiece. It was primarily focused on listening abilities where a picture was given and after listening the options  we were asked to select the one which describes the picture best…….

A conversation was being played in which inference was needed to be drawn out……….the toughness level was average but the accent was different from what we use in common day language and hence a bit of problems can be faced who hadn’t listened to it before………concentrated listening will help a candidate with a bit of shrewdness in selecting an option and patience……..

The result of the successful candidates was declared in the shorter time…..cutoff was 456 out of 787 and those who were close to the score re-appeared for the test so that they can improvise the score and clear the initial stage………50 selections out of 93 students…………

In the next round, they took business proficiency test which was supposed to be the last test, but a googly was thrown by HR and we moved again to lab for the test………It was a 75 minutes test comprising 75 questions based on Accounts, Logical Reasoning and MS-Excel (30 questions for first two and 15 for last one)………..

Accounting was a bit tricky but was totally based on basics of accounting which plays a vital role in whole process…..Bank Reconciliation Statement was to be prepared out of the given figures, Working Capital determination, Royalties Payble A/C balance transferred to which account, Backflush Costing, Questions based on basic principles of accounting and costing………….so do mug-up basic accounting terminologies and principles…………….

Logical Reasoning was fairly on an easier side and MS-Excel was totally based on shortcuts and basic definitions………best part is no negative marking but caveat is sectional cut-off………..

Results were declared once again in a short-time (only 3 students were eliminated) and it started the last round called as VERSANT TEST………..It was based on communication skills and once again listening abilities was the prime focus…………

A sheet was given in which there were certain sentences that we had to read out according to the instructions given by the speaker on the other side……after that, next section was listening where we had to repeat the sentence that we listened……the sentences are in different accents and if you are not familiar you may face problems……..i didn’t faced so much……though I also did a bit……..

In next section, basic questions were asked which needs to be answered in one word……those were very common-sensual questions such as basement is above the floor or below the floor, To whom you would go if you are ill, doctor or salesmen etc……..questions were simple……but once again……….LISTENING MATTERS……..!!!!!!!!!!

Next section was jumbled sentences were being read out from the other side and we had to read it in a proper manner…..e.g They read “ Going to be, a, Pratik, is, manager…………..

The correct answer is: Pratik is going to be a manager” So here listening combines with Grammer……..

Last but not the least is open questions………3 questions were asked on which we expressed our opinions within 20 seconds apiece……questions can be… What you prefer, mobile or letter? What are the characteristics of a good family according to you…….

Remember, in this section, content doesn’t matter…..what matters is how you speak, clearly, coherently and concisely…..that’s it……. 25 selections out of 47…….

And within half an hour, officially it was declared that few of us have cleared the first hurdle…….THE ACTUAL PREPARATIONS BEGIN NOW……………..!!!!!

Believe in yourself, stay positive and have patience……..rest whatever you can do to improve your technical and other relevant skills, it will prove beneficial in the long-run………

Because in long-run, stamina matters……!!!!!!!!!
